La Famiglia Inspiration

In the House of Tippler, we have a very small & close family of locals and regulars who come in, sit at bar, and enjoy our company. For our little bar family, we have an unwritten menu of cocktails, that they, and they alone know. The 'Kiss Kiss' is on this unwritten menu, and is ordered with a 'kiss kiss', just like greeting between close Italian friends and family, just, over the bar... and without the face to face contact... Infact it's just a 'mwah mwah' sounds. The 'Kiss Kiss' This cocktail is inspired by one of my favourite cocktails the 'Last Word'. It contains 20ml of Luxardo Maraschino liqueur which is the center of my drink, trying to underline the cherry, almond, and honey flavours it boasts. 20ml of Bittersweet botanical spirit - which I find works really well with Luxardo Maraschino, both containing honey, and the grapefruit in Kamm, combining well with the almond-like flavours in Maraschino, creating a Hemmingway-like flavour combination. 20ml of our House Spiced & Aged Rum, which is spiced with pimento berries, a flavour that works amazingly with the cherries, AND almonds for a similar flavour combination to a Mai Tai - which our house rum makes an amazing twist on. It also combines well with the grapefruit in Kamm, and the honey, as we sweeten our rum marginally with a dry honey, to avoid it drying out too much when we age it. We age our rum on rotation in American oak barrels, which is complimentary to the aging process Luxardo Maraschino goes through in Finnish Ashwood Vats. We also use 20ml fresh lime juice to balance and soften our cocktail perfectly.
